This session will explore Weight Stigma in Healthcare and how new methods must seek to look past weight when it comes to care. Fornero's work and research on the cumulative effect of body size and weight discrimination on a person's mental health will be a highlight of this lecture. Join us to explore this important topic. 

Presented by: Kiki Fornero, assistant professor of nursing

Dr. Kiki Fornero graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Central Oklahoma. She obtained a Master of Science in Nursing Education from the University of Oklahoma. She successfully defended her Ph.D. dissertation study titled, “Weight Stigma Narratives of Individuals with Depression after Bariatric Surgery” in May 2022 at Oregon Health & Science University. She joined the faculty as an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Linfield University in 2019. Dr. Fornero teaches students across the undergraduate and graduate programs and serves as the Simulation and Clinical Coordinator for the ABSN and MEPN programs. In her free time, she enjoys playing the violin in a community orchestra, traveling, and consuming various forms of media.
