Hello, my name is Rosie García-Ramírez. I live in the Pacific Northwest, more specifically in Beaverton, Oregon. We have the Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton. Oregon is such a beautiful state and I am a proud Oregonian. I have been a nurse for six and a half years, I graduated from Concordia University in Portland. After graduation, I started working as an RN at a local primary care clinic. The organization that I work for is a federally quality health center (FQHC). My nursing journey started in a team-based setting. I was the team nurse and worked alongside two family practice physicians. I felt that my nursing school primarily focused on bedside nursing. I learned that in our nursing world, there is little focus on primary care nursing. I ventured and worked in progressive care unit (PCU) in a nearby hospital in downtown Portland. This was short-lived for 6 months and then I returned back to the FQHC in which I began. I am currently the organization’s Quality Assurance Manager. I have been in this role for 10 months and always prioritize my own professional growth. I learned that I am passionate about healthcare quality. I am motivated to learn new skills that will benefit me and the organization that I work for. I am currently enrolled in graduate school for my Masters’ of Science in Nursing. I am debating whether I would like to pursue the Nurse Educator or Nurse Executive track. When I am not working or at school, I like to spend time with my family. I have a 3 year old toddler and 3 dogs. It is never quiet in my house.
